About Resistant Communiqués

Welcome to Resistant Communiqués,

In 2023, Resistant Communiqués began as a project in response to political attacks on education and the widespread implementation of book bans across the United States.

In 2025, as the new U.S. presidential administration has risen to power, it has unleashed unprecedented attacks across all areas of American life. Using executive orders, legislation, and more, they are rapidly and systematically silencing and punishing universities, public schools, nonprofits, and journalists for writing about a growing list of forbidden topics. These politically driven assaults are carefully engineered to undermine collective memory and our understanding of our history and present, eroding our ability to critique or dismantle the status quo.

Resistance isn't going anywhere: we must expand our idea of where and how to resist.

Resistant Communiqués, led by a collective of educators and activists formed in 2024, aims to create a space for discussing these topics and preserving history through a series of personal stories. We discuss political economy, art, culture, activism, and history to answer these questions: How do we cultivate a culture of resistance, and what does this resistance look, feel, and sound like?
